I've been a total blog slacker lately! I've been a slacker in general too! I know it's after midnight but technically I've not been to bed yet so I'm still considering it the 13th. The above socks are my submission for the Make it from Scratch contest over at the 100 acre wood! Please ignore my incredibly dry skin and bug bite!

Here's what my plan was. This was going to be the kick in the pants I needed to get the stuff I needed to learn to spin (wool). Talk about making something from scratch! But,,, alas, I did get the stuff but I still haven't figured out how to do it! So I whipped up these socks. I love making socks. It's utilitarian, crafty, it's pretty, and it's knitting! What's better?!

I finally got to put a name with a face for Stephanie (of the 100 acre wood) today at the Homeschooler skating party! It's really nice to be able to see the person in your mind when you read what is being wrote.

Those are cute~! Yeah I was thinking yesterday that we read each others blogs, but don't know if we ever have met in person even though we are at many of the same events! :) Funny!

I've watched shows about spinning your own wool and they make it look so easy. I know around here there is a place that teaches the craft once a year. It would be very cool to learn. Good luck. I can't even knit or crochet!

I learned how to card, spin and dye wool from my 5th grade teacher. I have never taken it up as an adult, though. I can crochet, but I've always wanted to learn to knit. These socks are SO CUTE!!! GREAT JOB! I'm not worthy (bow, scrape) :o)
