Ok, first and foremost, let me express my sincere sympathy to those who lost their lively hoods in the fire today. I have had a booth in the flea market in the past and we did rely on that money. I completely understand the devastation that some people must be feeling.
BUT.... some of the comments on the WSAZ site today? I'm sorry,, I LOL'ed.

I had only been there once in the 8 years that I have lived here, but I can see how it went up so fast. Thank God it wasn't a weekend...I don't remember seeing too many "exit" signs...

I haven't seen any local news today been busy running errands and such preparing for our vacation we're leaving for Saturday morning!!!
I ran across your blog and listened to the music for a while. Interesting! Especially, about you being a home schooler and a fan of Sarah Palin. After reading a bit I found a urge to write to you. First, I'm 74 years old. Old enough to have lived and worked in Alaska before it became a State. I lived there longer than Ms Palin is old. But, that's not the point of my writing. You have taken on the responsibility of educating your children. You have taken on a big load, perhaps even an admirable thing, but fraught with peril. I'll write a fact for you to ponder. Then, if you realize you probably nothing about the subject, you'll know how little about some important subjects that need to be imparted to your children. The fact: From the year I was born, until I was about forty years old any individual within the United States of America faced a FEDERAL PRISON TERM of ten years if they had possession of a GOLD COIN. That's 40 years.
I asked my dad when I was about 16 why people could not own gold in the U.S. His answer was simple. He said, "Because the government doesn't want you to." At first that made me a little angry but after a bit I thought, "What real difference does it make to me? I don't have any gold and I'm not likely to own any anyway." Gary, that's very interesting. I was under the impression that gold coins were taken out of circulation because of the Gold Standard and the minted value of the coins being less than the value of the metal. I am interested in what you learned in the mines of Alaska. It sounds intriguing.
